Youth and Security Essay Competition, 2017
To launch the project, pre-test data collection instruments, and build interest with students and partners, Pichnet backed a written essay competition across the Yaounde capital region on security-related youth topics.

More than 800 entries were reviewed with local teachers and principals, 12 winning essays were published with Mutations, and the awards ceremony helped build early trust with schools and public actors.
The essay competition was an early trust-building exercise as much as a publication moment. Schools, teachers, and local media all appear here because the project needed a public foothold before longer follow-up work could grow.
Publishing 12 winning essays with Mutations carried student writing beyond the ceremony itself and linked program activity to public circulation.
